The Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) is committed to improving the quality of auditing in local government.  We encourage local auditors to adopt and follow Government Auditing Standards (GAS) issued by the Comptroller General of the United States.  ALGA's peer review program is intended to help member organizations in their efforts to meet these standards.  Peer review is a benefit of ALGA membership.  We encourage members to use this guide for self-assessment and to prepare for and undergo a peer review.  Use of the ALGA Peer Review Guide for peer reviews not administered through ALGA is prohibited.

If you are currently enrolled please complete the course by June 30, 2008.  If you intend to enroll in the course for the first time between now and June 30, 2008, please be aware that some material may not reflect the most recent changes in Government Auditing Standards (GAS).

Contact Peer Review Committee Chair Alan Ash at 416.392.8476 with any questions.

What do you do if you want to – or need to – know more about ALGA peer reviews, but have been unable to attend the Peer Review Workshops at ALGA’s annual conferences? ALGA now offers a video based, on-line course that may be the answer.

The live Peer Review Workshops have been a well-attended part of ALGA’s annual conference for several years. The live workshops have been very successful in helping individuals prepare to be effective members of a peer review team. They have also helped individuals from audit shops that will have a ALGA peer review understand the process, and be better prepared for the review.
