When we think of public safety, police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) immediately ascend to the top of our mental list; perhaps because they are the most visible and highly publicized.  As citizens ourselves, we too want to keep everyone safe from criminals on the street; and we want to provide state-of-the-art and the best possible EMS and fire services. 

In today's world of corporate scandals and highly publicized government control failures, stockholders and members of the public are increasingly demanding improved governance, better controls and enhanced accountability and transparency.

In his book entitled the Audit Explosion, Michael Power states, "Auditing seems as natural and as necessary as policing." Luckily for me I get to 'pen' about two naturals, to explore an integral relationship between the two.
