The American Association of Medical Audit Specialists (AAMAS)
The American Association of Medical Audit Specialists is a national organization composed of healthcare professionals from various health care reimbursement backgrounds. The members of this association represent a wide variety of disciplines. This includes workman's compensation management, insurance carriers, government and regulatory bodies, risk management and many more.

Association of Government Accountants (AGA):
The AGA serves the professional interests of auditors, financial managers, from local, state and federal governments, as well as public accounting firms, responsible for effectively using billions of dollars and other monetary resources every day. The AGA provides education, training and tools to enable government financial managers to operate more efficiently and be more accountable to the public.

Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB):
Performance Measurement for Government – this website discusses a variety of measurement initiatives, and notes that “the desire for public accountability is as strong as it ever has been. Throughout the nation, from the smallest local municipality to the luminous federal government, countless initiatives are underway to assess and report the performance of their organizations, departments, programs, and projects to the public. These initiatives vary greatly in such aspects as scope, methodology, limitations, indicators used, frequency, and detail."

GovernmentAccountability Office (GAO):
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is known as "the investigative arm of Congress" and "the congressional watchdog."  GAO support the Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities and helps improve the performance and accountability of the federal govenment for the benefit of the American people.

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA):
The IIA is an international professional association that serves members in internal auditing, governance and internal control, Information Technology (IT) audit, education, and security. The IIA also provides internal audit practitioners, executive management, boards of directors and audit committees with standards, guidance, and information on best practices in internal auditing.

National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT):
NASACT is an organization for state officials who deal with the financial management of state government. Membership is comprised of officials who have been elected or appointed to the office of state auditor, state comptroller or state treasurer in the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners:
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is a professional organization dedicated to educating in fighting fraud. Each member of the Association designated a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) has earned certification after a rigorous qualification process.
