  • Michael Bodle is a Senior Auditor with the Division of Inspector General in the Office of the Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, Florida. Michael was granted the Certified Inspector General Auditor certification by the Association of Inspectors General in March 2010.
  • Gary Nystul, City Auditor for the City of Bremerton in Washington, was recently awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
  • Derek Barber and Scott Jarrett, both Associate Auditors from the Maricopa County Internal Audit Department, obtained their Certified Internal Auditor certification from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Barber also obtained his Certified Government Auditing Professional certification from the IIA.
  • Rob McGowan, a Principal Management Auditor with Washington's King County Auditor's Office, was awarded the Project Management Professional certification in April 2010 by the Project Management Institute. The certification recognizes demonstrated knowledge and skill in leading and directing project teams and in delivering project results within the constraints of schedule, budget and resources.
  • Sharen Johnson, a Senior Auditor with Prince William County Audit Services in Virginia, earned the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner's designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner in April 2010.
  • Llewelyn Restuvog Terlaje, an auditor with Guam's Office of Public Accountability, passed the Institute of Internal Auditor's Certified Government Auditing Professional certification.

City of Austin Changes | Print |

In April, Austin City Auditor Ken Mory selected Corrie Stokes as Deputy City Auditor.  She previously held the position of Assistant City Auditor in Austin.  In May, Ken selected two new Assistant City Auditors, Niki Raggi and Rachel Snell.  Niki previously held the position of Auditor III with the City of Austin.  Rachel came from the State of Texas where she was a Senior Auditor/Project Manager.

 Seattle City Auditor David Jones recently appointed Mary Denzel to serve as Seattle's Deputy City Auditor.  Before starting work with the City Auditor's Office in September 2002, Ms. Denzel held management positions in the executive and legislative branches of Seattle city government.

 
King County Auditor’s Office receives ASPA’s Practitioner of the Year Award | Print |

Kymber Waltmunson of the King County Auditor's Office in Washington led a team of auditors including Rob McGowan, Larry Brubaker, Brian Estes, Ron Perry, Bob Thomas and Liz DuBois in completing a transit audit published in 2009.  The auditors received technical expertise from Booz Allen Hamilton, Nelson Nygaard and Courval Scheduling.  The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) awarded the audit the Evergreen Chapter Practitioner of the Year Award.  They received the award based on the audit's significant financial and operational impacts, innovative approaches to public management, and public accountability through a focus on effective and efficient government.  The audit identified up to $37 million in annual cost savings, up to $58 million in increased fare options, and $105 million in one-time savings.
